Located at a condominium unit in Wailea. I troubleshot track lighting that's located over the dining room table. I removed the switch to confirm there is voltage at the switch, and the switch was still operational. I located the transformer that's located up in a closet above by the entrance that also houses the AC equipment. I tested the transformer and found there was no voltage going out of the transformer, but voltage is coming in. I reset the reset button on the transformer, and this brought back the lighting over the dining room table. I let the customer know that if the problem comes back the transformer may need to be replaced.

Located at an apartment in Kihei. (Gregg) Troubleshot GFCI outlet that's located in the garage, found that it's tied into a GFCI outlet in the bathroom. I changed up the GFCI outlet outside in the garage to a regular outlet, since it's protected by a GFCI inside. The refrigerator in the garage was plugged into the GFCI in the garage and was an older model fridge. I mentioned that the refrigerator could have something possibly going on with the compressor and may be causing the GFCI outlet to trip. If that's the case, the refrigerator may need to be replaced since it's older. I checked on the ceiling fan light fixture in the bedroom and found that the wiring is correct and the voltage is fine. There's something wrong with the light fixture on the ceiling fan. I also noticed that there is no fan rated box. We will need to add backing and a fan rated box in this location. Matt removed the existing ceiling fan and box. The existing box was not a ceiling fan rated box. Installed new 2x4 wood backing to install a new fan rated box. Installed new ceiling fan and tested to confirm ceiling fan works correctly.

Located at a condominium complex in Kihei. Gregg: Disconnected the center parking lot lights to verify if there was an issue in this area with the circuit breaker that keeps tripping over time. The property manager and I spent time digging to try and find a junction box in the median near the center parking lot lights. We were unable to locate the junction box, but noticed after time the circuit breaker tripped for the Makai side of the parking lot lights. The property manager would like to leave this side disconnected overnight to see if this could be an area that has damaged wiring causing the breaker to trip. Stopped by to check on a possible junction box that was out by the smoking section area located near he center parking lot lights. The property manager and I spent time and did not find a junction box. We removed one of the bollard lights closest to the clubhouse and found that there's wiring damaged in the conduit fed from the electrical room. He's going to have one of his guys come and chip away the cement base and dig around the conduit where the damaged wiring is located. Maintenance removed the existing walkway light base that was made of cement and exposed the conduit down further. I was able to shorten the conduit and find that all the wires were burned up in one section. I pulled out all the damaged wires from the clubhouse to the first light fixture located in front of the clubhouse near the parking lot. Pulled in new wires from the junction box outside the electrical room to the first light fixture near the parking lot outside the clubhouse.

Gregg Was called to an emergency trouble call located at a commercial building in Kahului, because the tenants reported that there were wires that were burnt up in the upper gutter above the main meters on the building. He talked to a couple of the tenants, and it seems that they lost half of the power in three of the units. One of the tenants mentioned that Hawaiian Electric came out and there was nothing they could do because it was not on their side. I had to shut down the entire building so I could safely remove the cover to the upper gutter. Once I removed the cover, I noticed there were burned up wires that go into an older 6 port lug. It is covered by brittle plastic that is protecting it from arcing out or direct shorts. I was able to at least safety off the wiring until we can find the correct insulated taps and fix the damaged wiring. I notified the property manager and let them know the issue and that we will need to get back here and shut down power one more time to fix the issue. Bill and Matt returned the following day, turned off power at the main disconnect and removed the gutter cover. They cut out the old taps and stripped the wires back enough to make contact in the new insulated taps. Inserted the wires and tightened the taps down. Turned power back on and closed the gutter. They checked each meter and turned on power to the individual units. All is working fine now. Bill returned later in the day because we were notified Unit 102 had no power. He checked all disconnects All breakers were in the on position. He went to 102 to see if a main breaker in the panel had been thrown. All breakers were on. He went back to the meters and found that the only meter labeled was 102. He pushed on the breaker and although it was in the on position, it moved to the tripped position with slight pressure. He reset it and checked with 102 and all is working now.

Gregg troubleshot outlets in a condominium in Kihei that were located at the end of the kitchen counter. The customer has already opened up a junction box and a couple of other boxes to try and find the problem. Spent time tracing out the wiring for the dishwasher and a couple of other outlets after finding only 97 volts on the hot to neutral wires, which did not give the correct voltage for the outlets. He found that the previous owner did a remodel in the kitchen, and there's a lot of buried wiring. There were boxes that were notched with wiring and were running out of them, appearing like they didn't want to cut drywall. I capped off the wiring that was giving 97 volts and tied this into the other circuit that's located next to the outlet, since it appears there is a buried splice in the wall behind the cabinets in the kitchen or under the tile. Replaced an outlet that was partly broken . Noticed this when troubleshooting and this was one of the outlets affected. Removed hard wiring from the dishwasher. Added an appliance cord on the dishwasher so it can plug into the existing disposal outlet underneath the sink. Installed wire mold extension box on the kitchen island to protect the wiring on the backside of the outlet.

Bill and Matt troubleshot outages at a retail center in Kihei. The tree lights had a loose wire, so Bill connected it and it works now. The front palm tree lights were the same, a loose wire, so he connected the wire and they come on now. The mailbox lights came on when Bill reset the time clock. I also set the timeclock to come on at 5:30pm. The palm trees up top had a bad GFCI outlet, so he replaced it and this fixed the problem. The sconce next to the coffee shop has power, but the LED engine will need to be replaced. Gregg replaced the LED engine and the sconce is working now. Gregg checked on the timer switch to a restaurant to make sure the sign light timer was set to the correct time. The timer was set to the correct time. There could be an issue with the sign light driver. Property management will check the sign and, if the sign still is not coming on, there is an issue with the sign driver and they will contact the sign company for replacement parts.

Located at an apartment in Wailuku. Bill troubleshot two outlets and switch not working in kitchen. Found that the switch had gone bad so he replaced it with a new one and now it works fine. The two outlets had power but because of corrosion, they were only feeding 95v. When he replaced the first outlet, that actually corrected the second outlet so only one outlet was needed.

Bill found that they had added a check meter and put the 3 wires from the check meter on the same breaker as the heat pump. This caused the wires to not make good contact and the arcing caused enough heat to melt the wire insulation and damage the breaker. Bill identified the individual phases so motor rotation would be the same. He cut the damaged wires out of the run and replaced them with new ones and spliced them together in the splice box just outside the unit. He installed a 3pole 15a breaker for the check meter. He installed a new 3pole 60a breaker and landed the wires on it. He powered the breaker on and checked the unit. It is running fine now.

We have dealt with Electric Service of Maui, LLC since 2018. I can highly recommend them for all electrical projects. From scheduling the appointment to arrival, they are always professional and prompt. Their work is outstanding. They are knowledgeable, thorough, and very patient with any explanations. Upon completion of the service, they leave the area in pristine condition.

Excellent! Laurie was amazing, I needed my water heater fixed, and right away, without asking me that I needed to fill out some forms online before they can help me, she called her electrician to come to my home and I knew if he wasn’t working on something at that time he could’ve fix it right away, but he came the next day and got it done! I highly recommend this business.

Excellent!! You are one of the best vendors that we work with. You schedule the work quickly and your invoices provide a detailed description of the work performed, which is great for a property manager to pass along to an owner. I will continue using your services for any and all electrical jobs for all of our rental units.

Been using Electric Service of Maui for all our electrical needs. It’s always a pleasure interacting with Laurie, scheduling for services and with Greg to check out what we need and to give us an estimate right away. They were able to get us in right away. We added additional outlets to a studio space and kitchenette. Guys who came to work were respectful of our space and kept the areas they were working on clean n tidy. Mahalo!

When we started to remodel our home we had no idea what was ahead of us!! Long story short...in the middle of July in Kihei with no air conditioning we NEEDED a professional & reliable electrician that would be able to come in and spend well more than a FEW hours wiring up in the HOT rafters so we could finally put up our new ceiling! I had no idea how hot a house could get without a ceiling! Our puppies really thank you! Even after they finished sweating in the ceiling we kept finding electrical challenges that you so wonderfully took on & just got it done for us! We so appreciate all your help, your professionalism & your integrity! Electric Service of Maui is our choice for all our electrical needs! Mahalo Jerzy & Electric Service of Maui!!!
